6/19/2019 The Importance of Commitment

Updated: Jun 23, 2019

For many who have accepted Jesus Christ, the speed of transformation may often coincide with how often you come up during commitment time. In other words, those who come up and receive prayer or recommit themselves experience changes that are far greater than those who do not. So those who do not come up once a year may not see as much maturity or growth in their walk with God.

If you come up during commitment time and go before the Lord week after week to say, “I have this problem” or “I will do this this coming week,” in 2 to 3 years after receiving Christ, you will see growth and maturity. Even if you are older, if you continue to come up during commitment time, you undergo growth in your relationship with God.

This is the power of commitment. You may hear a sermon and say, “Oh, that was a good sermon. I’m so blessed,” and then just leave. The message and whatever conviction you felt may just evaporate. On the other hand, if you hear a sermon and bring your problems to God, you renew your strength. And if you make a decision and say, “I am going to do this…” then the message becomes concrete and you will experience transformation.

If you make a commitment, your faith will start to grow.
